On Thursday, November 26, 2015 the MBAAA hosted its MBA Alumni Speaker Series with special guest Richard Clayman, Sessional Professor and Executive-in-Residence, Telfer School of Management.

Richard is a highly acclaimed graduate-level professor for power and influence, leadership, general management and high-performance team development. He is an experienced consultant with past engagements in healthcare, education, government, and the private sector.

Given his experience and passion for leadership and high performance, Richard shared with us lessons learned from bad leadership: Donald Trump and the run to be President: What bad leadership reminds us about good leadership.

“Vying for what is arguably the most powerful position in the world would, most assume, require the strongest, most intelligent of leaders. And yet, that is often not who gets voted in. Should this cause us to question everything we know about leadership? Well, maybe we can question the voters, but not the essentials of good leadership. We are often best reminded of what good leadership is by seeing what bad leadership looks and sounds like.”

In his presentation, Richard Clayman took a fun look at the low points of a few past Presidents and then took full aim on Donald Trump – still a GOP front-runner – as we examined what it takes to lead effectively in our own organizations.
