Organisée chaque année dans le cadre de la Semaine mondiale de l’entrepreneuriat, la compétition Desjardins « Elevator Pitch » braque les projecteurs sur la fine fleur des jeunes entreprises de l’Université d’Ottawa et offre aux gens d’affaires qui gagnent en « traction » ou qui en sont encore aux premiers stades de « validation » de leurs idées la chance de présenter leur argumentaire à un jury et de gagner des prix en argent ainsi que des services de développement des entreprises.
Cet événement comprend également un volet de réseautage ainsi qu’un discours thème inspirant et édifiant sur les joies et les peines de l’entrepreneuriat. La compétition se divise en trois catégories – concept, validation et traction et vise à récompenser les efforts des personnes qui se lancent en affaires ou qui ont déjà franchi des étapes importantes du parcours entrepreneurial.
Les candidatures seront acceptées jusqu’au 26 octobre 2023 à 23 h 59. Le dossier de candidature doit comprendre un formulaire dûment rempli et un argumentaire vidéo de deux minutes.

CATÉGORIES
CONCEPT (TROIS FINALISTES)
Cette catégorie s’adresse aux étudiantes et étudiants qui souhaitent présenter leur concept et tirer profit de l’expérience des membres du jury en matière d’argumentaire, de leurs conseils et de leur rétroaction. Pour concourir dans cette catégorie, vous ne devez pas avoir encore réalisé d’activités de « traction » (ventes, recherche de financement, etc.) ni avoir développé de prototype final ou de version bêta. Vous pourriez avoir entamé la validation de la clientèle, mais uniquement en tant que concept!
Prix : 1 000 $ pour la 1re place, plus les services professionnels décrits dans les critères d’admissibilité et les détails de la compétition.
VALIDATION (TROIS FINALISTES)
Cette catégorie encourage et récompense la validation par les clients et/ou les premiers prototypes. Ces idées sont encore conceptuelles, mais des travaux sont en cours pour valider activement ou construire des solutions opérationnelles précoces. Les candidats doivent être encore à un stade précoce et ne peuvent pas avoir réalisé une traction significative à ce jour, comme un financement significatif, des ventes ou d’autres accélérateurs tels que déterminés par le comité de sélection.
Prix : 3 000 $ pour la 1re place, plus les services professionnels décrits dans les critères d’admissibilité et les détails de la compétition.
TRACTION (TROIS FINALISTES)
Cette catégorie s’adresse aux chefs d’entreprise en activité qui ont franchi des étapes importantes du parcours entrepreneurial. Vous aurez à présenter un résumé général et un argumentaire. Pour concourir dans cette catégorie, vous devez avoir déjà mené certaines activités de « traction », par exemple :
Validation technique ou commerciale
Adhésion de la clientèle
Mise au point d’un prototype ou d’un site Web fonctionnel
Ventes ou développement d’une version bêta
Admission dans un programme d’accélération ou d’incubation d’entreprises

The Desjardins Elevator Pitch Competition is open to all idea stage and business or social ventures led by students currently enrolled at the University of Ottawa on a full-time or part-time basis in the current academic year. The competition is not open to alumni, or staff.
The company applying must have a minimum of 1 Co-Founder currently enrolled as a student at the University of Ottawa.
Past participants are eligible to participate again provided that they satisfy all eligibility requirements.
Applicants can apply to whichever category (but only one) they choose, however we reserve the right to place applicants in the most suitable category based on stage of idea or business. You will be notified if we choose to move you.
International Students are also eligible to apply permitted that they satisfy the competition requirements.
In the event that we deem that no submission has made substantial progress in achieving significant milestones or meeting our established criteria, we reserve the right to award no prize for that category.
Money awarded will be paid first to the business entity (if applicable), or in the event that no such entity exists, divided equally among the team members identified on the application form.
A selection committee and a panel of judges will determine the finalists and winners of the competition based on the written application, the video submission, and the final event live pitch and q&a session. As such, all applicants acknowledge and agree to the sharing of all materials submitted with the organizers of the competition, the judges and selection committee.
If selected as one of the final 3 Traction, or final 3 Validation finalists, or final 3 Idea stage finalists, you will be required to attend the final live, in person competition event on November 14th, 2023 at 5:30pm, which will also include a short question and answer period.
If selected as a finalist, you will be required to attend a practice session where feedback will be provided and preparedness will be determined the week preceding the competition.

4. University of Ottawa Entrepreneurship Hub – is an interdisciplinary hub for the University of Ottawa community to enhance their entrepreneurial mindset. They are offering the following:
The winner in the Ideation category will get their Entrepreneurial Mindset Certificate ticket paid for by the eHub
All participates of the Ideation category will get automatic enrollment into the Startup Garage RevUp Circuit, which will begin at the end of January 2024
The winner of the Validation and Traction category can move straight to the interview round of Startup Garage (if they have not already participated in the program).
