{"id":767,"date":"2019-06-11T09:07:13","date_gmt":"2019-06-11T13:07:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.telfer.uottawa.ca\/thtex\/?p=555"},"modified":"2019-06-11T09:07:13","modified_gmt":"2019-06-11T13:07:13","slug":"new-publication-in-healthcare-management-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.telfer.uottawa.ca\/thtex\/new-publication-in-healthcare-management-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"New Publication in Healthcare Management Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dr. Wojtek Michalowski and Dr. Michael Fung-Kee-Fung have published a new article in Healthcare Management Forum entitled <em>Business school teams up with clinical innovators: An opportunity for health system transformation<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Healthcare represents one of the largest sectors in the economy with the health spending on average accounting for about 9% of<br>\nGDP in OECD countries. Canada was projected in 2018 to spend about 11% of its GDP on healthcare with an expected health<br>\nexpenditure growth of 4.2%. Addressing this issue asks for a redesign of health delivery system and associated cultural shift<br>\nallowing for incorporation of industry and business best practices. To make this redesign happen, system transformation requires<br>\nseeking out new institutional mechanisms, partnerships, and forums where industry leaders in business and healthcare can<br>\ndevelop a top-down approach with a shared vision, shared best practices, and support coming from a bottom-up approach<br>\nthrough pilots and scaling-up initiatives.
